This morning Seija stood up early as usually, took the camera and went for a walk as in every day. The sea was calm and as blue as you can imagine. You could not wish for a morning more beautiful than this. On the cliff close to the eastern lagoon there was a lonely seal laying. Seija managed to get quite close to it, but as in so many times before, failed to take photo. It is surprising how fast these animals manage to get back to the water even thoug they seem to be so clumsy on the ground. The seal dived, came back to the surface once and then dissappareared.
This morning we took the new terrace table, which Roope made yesterday, into use. Now he is forced to stop this furniture production, because there are no more nails and screws left.
Heating the lighthouse has been a challenging task. If the wind blows from certain directions, all the smoke from the ovens comes inside into the rooms. This is why the heating system will be fixed this summer. Ari needed to do some measurements for the new chimney. So he climbed to the roof of the lighthouse while the others were holding their breaths when watching it.
After this we continued our daily duties by hammering the wall, choping firewood, cooking, washing up and, no surprise, baking. In the afternoon a new side project was started. There was some concrete left from last summer, best before date over but in spite of the lumps still serviceable for the purpose it was going to be used. A cement mixer was also needed, but there are two of them on Märket. The concrete now covers a small area in front of the lighthouse as well as the small stones that were always found from all over the yard after each stom. In case of rain, the puddles will not stay for long but dry out soon and the tourists won´t break they ankles. Sometimes safety issues are as important as esthetic values.
All our harbours would have been easy to access today, but no visitors came, no tourists nor authorities, not even the police. In spite of that Teija managed to get some positive cashflow in the shop.
