First of all, let me apologize for the (at least) two mistakes I made in yesterday's report. First of all I learnt later in the evening, that Ari is a true professional in the construction business and secondly the planks we had been working on were not for the new diningroom table. They are for the tops of the kichten cabinets, which is almost like a table...

Even after yesterday's ”snowball”, we were not expecting the visitor we had today. We are not quite sure what species this animal was, but our best guess is the famous ”abdominable snowman Yeti” from somewhere in the Himalayas... If you have any other suggestions, we are keen to hear from you.

My late mother has told me that as a child I ,like all children of a certain age, made cakes out of sand and mud. Now after some 50 years I am at it again. We started working on smoothing the surface of the old magazine. Ari mixed the mortar and showed us how to work it into the existing surface and how to smooth it out with the tools available.

What did I learn?:
1) a bucket full of mortar is heavy
2) working it into an uneven surface requires both some strength and some technique
3) sometimes it sticks and sometimes it does not
4) and when it does stick, it looks and feels good

Unfortunatly a steady drizzle interrupted our work halfway through the afternoon and we had to make due with some planning and cleaning indoors.

If you have wondered about the title – Victoria's Secrets, I will let you off the hook. I had two reasons to choose the title. The first one is some ”lace” that I found laying on the ground. I had intended to take a picture of it for you, but I need some sunlight to really show it to you. Maybe tomorrow??? After seeing the picture you should better understand why Johanna and Anne are working on the two ovens...

The second and more important reason is the lamb stew Ari is cooking for dinner. I have seen large chunks of lamb, onion, lots of garlic and a few generous dashes of redwine going into the kettle. What has all this to do with Victoria? There is a large sticker reading ”Victoria” on the side of the kettle. We do not know what it will taste like, but the smell rising out of the kettle slowly simmering on our new windwill powered electric hotplate, is promising...
