Previous day
The weather here at Märket has been quite like the last two days; +10 and sun. Calm sea, no wind. At the lighthouse frontyard the weather has felt almost hot.
The sea level is low. The cliffs are getting whiter and whiter when the seaweed-covered rocks come visible.
The bar at the Lilla Märkets (lilla=small) door was fixed today. Lilla Märket is a smaller red-and-white building at the yard, and it served as a toilet in the earlier times. Nowadays it is used as our shower cabin.
Artic Terns (lapintiira) arrived here a few days ago. Now they are choosing their companion and they seem to have claimed a part of this island (at the Sweden side) as their property. They don't like if we get too close to their area.
The big binocular at the terrace seems to attract some small birds. Birds must have an inborn interest in ornithology.
Or maybe they're also spotting seals, which can be seen here alone, in couples, and in groups. The darker line at the picture below is not a reef, but a pile of seals.
