Previous day
Yesterdays weather forecast was right; the weather changed today. We heard thundering and saw dark clouds moving above Åland, but here at Märket we got only few drops of rain. To be more exact, 17 raindrops in a square meter, as we counted.
Regardless of those 17 raindrops, we felt that it was another good day to work outside. We took down the rest of the wooden casting moulds at the bridge.
The walls of Lilla Märket got some damage during the long winter. Today Lilla Märket got a new layer of red paint.
Getting wood dry and good for heating requires almost scientific knowledge.
As you know, wet wood does not burn. The wood should be chopped in a certain way, then piled in a way that the moisture gets out. If you do the wood chopping and drying properly, the whole process takes more than a year.
As we hear another thunder front roaring at the direction of Understen Lighthouse at Sweden, we quit todays work and get ready for a good nights sleep.
