Yesterday evening our driver Mats contacted us asking if we could leave Märket already very early on Sunday morning to make his next drives easier. We accepted that after checking the new crew´s situation. Yes, they can make it to Eckerö already 6.30 AM Sunday morning.

The new situation meant that we had only less than 24 hours to go in the morging. So we started the final sprint at work after the breakfast.

Tuomas and Rauha went again ”fishing” the scaffouldings that were lost last year. They find some parts but couldn´t pick them to the surface. So there is a challenge for the coming crews. They can do the job in warmer waters, they can even dive then.

Alpo took the heavy task to cut the Christmas tree into pieces. It was still in good shape after more than 4 months after it was cut and brought to Märket. It will burn well.

Then Tuomas continued drilling the holes to the ground for the safety fence. That is a heavy job so he gladly gave the drill to Alpo and even to Rauha who wanted to test the drilling. This crew also combined the parts of the wind mill mast, so it is ready for lifting up.

Todays main task was still cleaning up the places. Alpo took care of the yard brushing and carrying things away. After the dusty job people wanted to go to shower. What a liberating feeling to wash the dirt of several days... Alpo even went for a swim in the old harbour. He is a very experienced ”hole swimmer” so diving in the ice cold water was nothing special. Alpo estimated that the temperature of the water was +4. We didn't have a thermometer, so that was only an educated guess. It couldn't have been any warmer, though.

Pekka fulfilled his longtime promise to make the "Swedish eco toilet" more comfortable for the ladies. In practise that meant a wooden sign on the corner of the machine room to show if the toilet - the grass areas for peeing - was free or not.

Pekka had also promised to bake a mango fresh cheese cake, and so he finally did. That was our early lunch, later in the evening we had sausage dressing with potatoes.Simple but good food once again.

When we write these lines most people in the neighbouring countries, Åland, Sweden and Finland start celebrating the First of May. Here we are so tired that celebrating is limited to having some desserts and several bottles of sparkling wine.

After six days we are tired but happy. We believe we have done our share for some time for rescuing Märket. This old lady has certainly now woken up after our and the first crew's visit here. The rooms are again warm after gentle warming, so just welcome new crew and goodbye for now!
