According to our instructions we made some efforts to clean up soot and grease in the machine room. However, washing of the inner walls soon proved to be difficult, because the walls are not painted but only plastered. An ordinary vacuum cleaner was a better solution to remove the soot produced by our generator. In the second picture happy workers are airing their overalls after hard work.
Later in the afternoon we tried to put ourselves in principal Keeper's place in his old-time workroom. Staring into sea and waiting something happening, burnt-out bulbs of lantern laying on table. Boring. Quite. Luckily, we have here a balanced selection of edifying books and leaflets. Some of them are very old but still interesting, like that shown in the picture ("Journal of Finnish Dog Club", originally from the library of Bogskär lighthouse).
In our obligatory lighthouse picture the lighthouse doesn´t play the leading role, but a nicely colored lichen (some Teloschistales species, we presume) which is glowing brightly after rain.
Important notice to those who are planning to visit Märket using their own boats: we do not have buoys at moment, so coming ashore is very difficult and possible only to northern shore in light or gentle breeze from S or SW.
